ICHS senior wins President's Volunteer Service Award
Immaculate Conception High School senior, Bridget McCann, has been honored for her exemplary volunteer service with a President's Volunteer Service Award.
The award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country, was presented by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of President Barack Obama.
“Bridget is a kind young lady who seeks out opportunities to help others and she does so with such kindness and dedication” praised ICHS Principal Pam Levar.
Bridget earned this award by volunteering her time in many different ways. As a Christian Service leader, she has traveled with the Immaculate Conception Parish Youth Group on mission trip for the past two summers. Bridget has also participated in the Relay for Life event in 2008 and 2010, while joining the Crop Walk and volunteering at the Special Olympics in 2009.
Leveraging her love of volleyball, Bridget has also helped to raise money in the past few years by participating in the DuPage Habitat for Humanity volleyball tournament to help raise funds to build homes. In addition, Bridget is a two-year member of the National Honor Society, four-year member of the volleyball team, participates in the Knights Theatre along with the ICHS Super Squad, Yearbook staff, Math team and Spanish Club.
Sponsored by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program recognizes young people across America for outstanding community service activities. More than 310,000 young people have been considered for these awards since the program began in 1995.
