IC's Godinez throws no-hitter
Immaculate Conception pitcher Jose Godinez threw a no-hitter to lead the Knights to a 5-0 Suburban Christian Conference victory over Wheaton Academy.
Godinez (1-1) struck out 11 batters and walked three, recording 72 strikes and 41 balls in 113 pitches. At the plate Godinez had 2 hits and drove in a run. Steve Maloney went 2-for-3 with a home run and a double for Immaculate Conception (8-4, 2-1).
Lisle 5, Wilmington 0: Jon Surber (2-0) struck out 11 batters in his 4-hitter, hit a home run and scored twice as Lisle (8-3, 1-0) dealt Wilmington its first loss of the season, at 9-1, 0-1. Lisle's Jon Kolosky, Ryan VanVolkenburg and Nick Thome had 2 hits apiece.
Addison Trail 4, Hinsdale South 2: Pitcher Matt Haas struck out 11 batters and supported his own cause with a tiebreaking 2-run double in the eighth inning as Addison Trail (5-5, 2-1) won the West Suburban Gold game in Darien.
Willowbrook 18, Proviso East 4: In the West Suburban Gold, Willowbrook (7-2, 3-0) was led by Steve Cox's 2 triples and a double, 3 hits apiece by Dan Fahlgren and Brian Cree, and Eric Maki's double and triple in support of hurler Tom Garbacz (1-1).
Benet 10, West Chicago 6: Benet's Nick Moore went 2-for-3 and drove in 3 runs in the nonconference win in Lisle. Eric Patzelt (2-0) earned the victory for Benet (4-4). Al Robbins doubled for West Chicago.
Naperville Central 7, Hoffman Estates 4: Nick Linne had 4 hits and scored 3 runs, Matt Cmiel ripped a double and Mason Hallett pitched the Redhawks to the nonconference win.
Glenbard South 14, Yorkville 4: Pitcher Dylan Rheault (1-2) won the 5-inning Western Sun Conference game and also had 2 hits for Glenbard South (6-4, 2-0). Rheault, Mitch Gasbarro and Mike Meath all hit doubles for the Raiders.
Wheaton Warrenville South 5, Joliet Catholic 3: Nonconference visitor Joliet Catholic scored its 3 runs in the top of the first inning, then WW South pitcher Jeremy Rhoades settled down to throw a 2-hitter. Neil Johnston and R.J. Hoshell each had 2 hits and doubled and tripled, respectively, for the Tigers (6-4).
Glenbard North 10, Conant 6: Glenbard North (7-2) rapped 10 hits and scored on consecutive suicide squeeze plays to beat the nonconference visitor. Evan Natick and Ryan Broviak each went 3-for-4. Jordan Hanlon (3-0) earned the victory.
