Judson Theater presents 'Almost, Maine' Feb. 24-25

(Elgin, IL – February 8, 2012) Escape the bitter chill of winter and come to Judson University's newest theater production of “Almost, Maine."

This student-directed production will hold two performances at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25 in the Marjorie Thulin Performance Hall of the Alice and Ed Thompson Center, 1151 N. State St., Elgin.

"This will be the first time in several years that Judson will present a student directed play," explains Judson University theater producer, Dave Hunter, a Judson alumnus and resident of Elgin.

Comprised of eight short plays in two-character vignettes and acted by a small cast of six actors, "Almost, Maine" will explore love and loss in the mythical town of Almost, Maine. Top Billing includes Juddson Updike (Carmel, Ind.), Michael Wallace (Allegan, Mich.), Mike Nicosia (Elgin), Natalie Turner (West Chicago), Kali Moxley (Crystal Lake), and Shelby Hirschberg (Elgin)

The play, written by John Cariani, is reminiscent of the 1980s show "Northern Exposure." Set in a small eastern seaboard town, “Almost, Maine” follows the lives of many eccentric characters as they explore the whimsy of romance and love, and everything that surrounds it.
