Advocate Condell offers 'Know Your Numbers' screenings
Celebrate Valentine's Day and Heart Month this February by making sure your heart is in top condition.
Advocate Condell Medical Center is offering “Know Your Numbers” screenings to determine your baseline health statistics in order to improve or maintain your well-being.
Screenings will measure HDL, LDL, total cholesterol, tri-glycerides, blood pressure and BMI. Results will be available immediately, and a registered nurse and other clinicians will be on hand for a short counseling session to help you interpret your numbers and determine next steps. Giveaways and health information also will be available.
These blood and noninvasive tests help develop a risk profile for cardiovascular and other diseases. According to the American Heart Association, getting blood cholesterol and blood pressure measurements should be part of an overall plan of medical care. Uncontrolled high blood pressure can lead to stroke, heart attack, heart failure or kidney failure.
“Many forms of cardiovascular disease can be prevented through lifestyle changes and routine health screenings,” said Virginia Friesen, RN, MBA, director of cardiovascular services at Advocate Condell. “We encourage you to learn about your risk factors and act on them to improve your heart health. Our cardiovascular team is here to help you chart a path to a healthy heart.”
Participants must fast for 8 hours prior to screening. Appointments are available from 7-11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the Gurnee Centre Club, 1405 Hunt Club Road; and 7-11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, in the main hospital's West Tower, 801 S. Milwaukee Ave. in Libertyville. The cost is $20, payable by cash or check at the time of screening.
Registration is required by calling (800) 323-8622. The event code is 5C18.
