Former Speaker of the House Lee Daniels to Chair COD Presidential Search Committee
College of DuPage announced today that former Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives and House Republican Leader Lee Daniels will serve as Chairman of the College's Presidential Search Committee.
Daniels currently serves as a trustee of Kite Realty Group Trust and a director of Inland Real Estate Income Trust, Inc. He also serves as the Chairman for Haymarket Center in Chicago. Daniels previously served on Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare Board of Trustees and Board of Governors, Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Foundation Board as well as Boards of Directors of Suburban Bank of Elmhurst and Elmhurst Federal Savings and Loan Association. Daniels serves as a Distinguished Fellow in the Political Science Department and Senior Advisor to the President at Elmhurst College.
Daniels, already a member of the College's 18-member Presidential Search Committee, said he is delighted to serve in this new role.
"Our mission is to bring three of the absolute top candidates to the attention of the Board of Trustees, which will decide who the next president will be," Daniels said. "I am honored to be part of this process and the rich tradition of College of DuPage, which I have watched over the years develop into one of the leading community colleges in the country."
The search for a new College of DuPage president officially began Thursday, Nov. 19, when the Board of Trustees chose Hay & Company of Chicago to help the College fill the positions of President, Chief Financial Officer, Controller and Vice President for Development/Executive Director of the COD Foundation.
Members of the College and community will be involved extensively in the search process. The Presidential Search Committee includes a wide range of volunteers affiliated with business, legal, financial, government and education communities in District 502, as well as a non-voting student representative, members of the COD faculty, administration, and managerial and classified staff members.
On Monday, Dec. 14, the Presidential Search Committee will host two open forums, one at 4 p.m. and the second at 7 p.m. in the Student Services Center, Room 2206, on the College's main campus in Glen Ellyn. The forums, which will be streamed online, will be led by former WFLD-TV journalist Anne Kavanagh.
