• Register by May 23 for the Voice of Care's golf outing fundraiser at 8 a.m. May 30 at Maple Meadows Golf Club, 272 S. Addison Road, Wood Dale. The cost is $100, which includes golf, a cart, contests, prizes and lunch. Voice of Care is a not-for-profit organization serving people with disabilities and their families in northern Illinois. • Villa Park Recreation offers country line-dancing classes the second and fourth Fridays of every month at the Community Recreation Building, 320 E. Wildwood Ave., Villa Park. Beginning class starts at 6 p.m. and class for more experienced dancers is from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The weekly fee is $5 for residents and $6 for others, payable at the door. May 24
• The 11th annual Open Door for Teens Bowl-A-Thon will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 24 at Fox Bowl, 1101 Butterfield Road, Wheaton. Bowlers are expected to raise pledges. The event also will include contests, prizes and food. Proceeds will benefit Open Door for Teens, a not-for-profit organization that aids at-risk youth ages 13 to 18. • The Carol Stream Police Department will hold its eighth annual Wheels of Justice emergency vehicle show from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 24 at the Town Center, 110 W. Lies Road. • The St. Alexander School 5K Run/Walk and 1K Kids' Fun Run will be May 26 starting from the school, 136 S. Cornell Ave. Registration and check-in begins at 8:15 a.m. and the race begins at 9 a.m. The 1K Kids' Fun Run, for children ages 10 and younger begins after the 5K. • The Glen Ellyn Park District is offering four new programs meeting Thursdays, May 20 to Aug. 21, at Spring Avenue Recreation Center, 185 Spring Ave., Glen Ellyn. Danceland for ages 4 to 6 will meet at 11 a.m. or 1:15 p.m. Disney Hits for ages 5 and older will meet at 10 a.m. or 12:15 p.m. The fee is $94 for residents, $141 for others for each session of these classes. High School Musical 1 and 2 for ages 7 and older will meet at 2:30 or 5 p.m. Do, re ,me for ages 9 and older will meet at 3:45 p.m. The fee for these two classes is $125 for residents, $188 for others. • The Center for History in Wheaton will offer Clubhouse at 6 p.m. May 29 at the museum, 315 Front St., second floor, Wheaton. • Carol Stream 16U Red Girls Travel Softball Team's second Storm Chaser Road Rally Fundraiser will be May 31. Check-in starts at 5:30 p.m. at Community Consolidated School District 93's district office, 230 Covington Drive, Bloomingdale. The cost is $10 per person in advance and $15 per person at the door. • The ninth annual Winfield Criterium Weekend is May 31 and June 1, with races held Saturday at Oakwood Park and Sunday's races featuring the Downtown Winfield Criterium and 2008 ABR national championship. Sunday's activities include the kids' races, entertainment and raffles. Parents can register their children for the races for $2 by noon race day. • The Carol Stream Police Department has scheduled its 35th Annual Bicycle Rodeo from 9 a.m. to noon May 31 at the Ross Ferraro Town Center, Gary Avenue and Lies Road in Carol Stream. Children ages 3 to 15 can attend the bike rodeo to register their bike with the police department and participate in a bike safety course. All bicycles will be inspected by a bike technician for problems before each rider attempts the course. The event will include special appearances by McGruff the Crime Dog, Sparky the Fire Dog, Ozzie of the Kane County Cougars and Skates of the Chicago Wolves.
