Lambert & Walz Packed Lombard's Historic Chapel's Season Finale Concert
Eric Lambert (formerly of the Henhouse Prowlers) and Chris Walz (formerly of The Special Consensus) paired up for the first time to close out Maple Street Chapel Folk Concert's 30th Season in Lombard, IL.
Both Eric and Chris are world-class flatpickers and wowed the crowd with musical conversations, improvising and riffing off of each other. The crowd loved it and erupted in applause frequently and was quick to get on their feet proffering a standing ovation. For the encore, Lambert & Walz did a traditional sing-along, "I'll Fly Away."
Although Eric and Chris have known each other for years and have jammed together and talked about playing together, it was only at the prodding of Maple Street's Co-Director Melissa Dagenhart, that this finally happened. The 31st season at the Chapel starts up again on September 19th.
Lambert is a 2015 Chicago Music Awards winner and sought after educator; he primarily teaches at Down Home Guitars in Frankfort, IL. Walz has been a teacher at the Old Town School of Folk Music since 1996. Both lead workshops, perform solo and with others, and teach.
Upcoming dates include the addition of the legendary mandolin player, Don Stiernberg, to play as a trio at the Frankfort Bluegrass Festival in Frankfort, IL. The duo reprises for a performance for the Two Way Street Coffee House's 45th anniversary on November 7 as one of the four main acts of the evening in Downers Grove, IL.
