Songwriter Michael McDermott to perform Dec. 13 in the Listening Room

Crystal Lake, IL - On Saturday, Dec. 13, singer songwriter Michael McDermott will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Listening Room at the Lakeside Legacy Arts Park, 401 Country Club Road in Crystal Lake.

Hailed as one of the finest songwriters in the country, Michael McDermott started performing in Chicago coffeehouses in the early 1990s, incorporating elements of Irish music into an American folk rock sound. His 1991 single, "A Wall I Must Climb," from the album "620 W. Surf," reached No. 34 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock tracks chart. McDermott is also known for performing his renditions of "God Bless America" and "The Star-Spangled Banner" at arenas and stadiums across the country. If you are a fan of Springsteen, Van Morrison, John Steinbeck and Patti Smith, then McDermott's inspirational rock is in your wheelhouse, waiting late night with a guitar, spare smokes and stories of the American heart.
