COD Forensics Team Wins Medals National Tournament

The College of DuPage Forensics Team won eight medals at the 2014 Phi Rho Pi National Forensics Tournament.

The team won a Bronze Award in Debate Sweepstakes and placed ninth overall in a tight field, in which only 7.5 points separated fifth through ninth place.

The tournament featured competition between 59 community colleges from across the country.

In addition to the team bronze, the following students earned medals for COD:

Silver, Speech to Entertain

Bronze, Communication Analysis

Joe Vitone (Wheaton)

Bronze, Extemporaneous Speaking

Bronze, Parliamentary Debate (with Carolyn Clarke)

Also joining the team were Shannon Linares (Downers Grove), Thinh Lam (Naperville) and Connor Sofia (Villa Park). Coaches Lauren Morgan, Melissa Gomez and Jude Geiger also accompanied the team. In addition, students were coached by speech faculty member Mia Poston and alumnus Matthew Beifuss.
