CHRISTMAS CHEER FOUNDATION NEEDS HELP
ON CHRISTMAS MORNING, VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO DELIVER FOOD TO THE HOMES OF THE NEEDY IN OVER 35 COMMUNITES!!!!
A miracle happens each Christmas morning when Christmas Cheer volunteers turn the key at 4:30 am at the Dominican University at 7200 W. Division in River Forest. The foundation doesn't know if they are going to have four volunteers or 400. They are always grateful to see the many volunteers who pour into the Priory to help spread this unique form of holiday cheer.
The Christmas Cheer Foundation is a 501©3 non-profit organization consisting of an all-volunteer group that delivers prepared meals directly to homes along with new book and beanie babies to needy families in Chicago and 35 or more suburbs on Christmas Day as well as other times through the year. They have been in existence for over 30 years growing larger each year. On Christmas Day, meals will be delivered to the homes of over 17,500 people along with over 5,000 children's books and beanie babies. This non-profit organization has volunteers coming from over 90 communities to get this labor of love done. Before 12 noon on Christmas the job is done. We are serving the needy and also giving many wonderful volunteers and their families an opportunity to serve others.
During other times in the year, another charity was formed, “Abundant Outreach”.

Abundant-Outreach was born out of the need to help others far beyond the holiday season. Volunteers deliver large drop offs of food and gifts to various Chicagoland charities throughout the year bringing the total to over 170,000 people in 2012.
How does this happen………
Christmas Cheer planning is a year round project of love with the core group of volunteers. The push for Christmas Day deliveries begins in early December. Over 350 volunteers help with wrapping and transporting of various items to the Dominican University in River Forest. On Christmas Eve and Christmas morning, volunteers are involved in the assembling, preparation, and deliveries.
