Learn how to reduce risk for peripheral artery disease

Barrington, IL – Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) is a disease that if left undetected can lead to a stroke or heart attack. A presentation on how to reduce the risks of PAD will be held on Tuesday, August 21 from 6:30-8 pm at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, by George Christy, MD, board certified cardiologist with the Advocate Medical Group.

“It is important to know the warning signs,” said Christy. “Many people confuse the symptoms with something else and detecting the condition early is vital.”

Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) is caused by plaque build up in the arteries, which narrows and blocks your arteries reducing blood flow to your limbs. It is a serious medical condition that can be prevented by maintaining a healthy lifestyle, with regular exercise. The medical staff at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital is aware of the significance of informing patients on how to prevent disease. It is crucial that patients become knowledgeable about the topic in order to detect early warning signs of PAD. Throughout the lecture, guests have the ability to ask questions and learn what can be done to identify and reduce the risk. A light meal will be included.
