Donate school supplies for needy children

Carol Stream—DuPage County's Humanitarian Service Project, is calling out to the community to donate school supplies that are necessary for the upcoming 2012-2013 school year. HSP strives to reach their goal of serving school supplies to over 5,000 poverty stricken students, throughout the DuPage and Kane counties. The non-profit wishes to receive items such as: pens, pencils, highlighters, rulers, folders, notebooks, crayons, backpacks and more.

The collected school supplies can be brought to HSP's location at, 465 Randy Road, in Carol Stream. There is no specific time or date that the school supplies need to be brought to the Humanitarian Service Project, but as soon as possible would be beneficial to the children. We will be continuing to accept school supply donations, throughout the entire year, in order to re-distribute them to local schools in need. The generous donations are widely appreciated. HSP is also providing school supplies for the 2012 Back-to-School Fair hosted by the DuPage Regional Office of Education, on August 8th at the DuPage County Fairgrounds.

About The Humanitarian Service Project

HSP's mission is to alleviate the pain and suffering that poverty creates in seniors and children living in DuPage and Kane Counties, Illinois. Last year during the Christmas Offering, 1,600 children received gifts and 100 impoverished families received three weeks of groceries, frozen meats, and fresh produce. With the Senior Citizen Project, HSP provides monthly food deliveries of 90 pounds including fresh produce, frozen meats, non-perishables, paper products and secret pal gifts to 120 low-income seniors. The Children's Birthday Project reaches the youngest underprivileged, making birthdays and Christmas truly memorable occasions for 900 children. Feed the Kids program provides 100 low-income families with groceries and fresh produce. HSP conducts an annual school supplies drive, which sends supplies to the DuPage Back to School Fair in addition to furnishing schools and individual children with necessary supplies.
