Chiros Care joins mission trip to Third World country

Doing its part to reach out to and support the less fortunate in the Dominican Republic, Chiros Care recently teamed together with ChiroMission for their October 2011 Mission Trip in a humanitarian effort to provide free chiropractic care to villagers and funds to help build an orphanage for abandoned children.

Led by Chiro One Wellness Centers' Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs) and volunteers, Chiros Care traveled to the Dominican Republic and Haitian Villages where they joined the ChiroMission effort to serve over 30,000 impoverished people in need. The ChiroMission October 2011 Mission Trip ran from September 28th through October 2nd.

Donations were collected by participants to help build the Casa Tesoro de Dios- Treasure House of God Orphanage, also known as “the House that Chiropractic Built.” "If you give a little, and I give a little, together we can make a difference," stated Pastor Joel Pena, Servant Leader for the Casa Tesoro de Dios Orphanage. "I invite you to be a part of changing the world." The Casa Tesoro de Dios Orphanage is currently under construction and a temporary structure has been erected to house the abandoned children. A $3,500 donation was presented to Pastor Joel and Sor Tedora Quezada, affectionately referred to as the “Mother Teresa” of the DR, at the Casa De Oracion which was used as the headquarters for the ChiroMission trip. More funds are needed to complete the concrete building that will house up to 100 children.

Chiro One Wellness Centers' fundraising efforts to help build the orphanage will continue through the end of the year. “If what you do is in service of humanity, you will always be on purpose in life,” states Dr. George Walker, Co-Director of Clinical Operations - Chiro One Metro.
