Glenbard East’s Chris Milligan hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to send sent the Rams (12-18) past Batavia 4-3 Monday and into the Class 4A Geneva baseball regional semifinals.
Mike Dexl also homered while Jon Morris went 2-for-4. Pat Walsh (4-4) won with 3 innings of relief.
Glenbard West 9, West Aurora 8:After West Aurora took an 8-7 lead with 2 runs in the top of the seventh, the Hilltoppers (16-18) scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to win the Class 4A Willowbrook regional quarterfinal game. Winning pitcher Ben Krusen homered. Ryan Kavanaugh and Mitch Monocchio had 3 hits apiece. Addison Trail 15, Conant 7:The Blazers (16-17) overcame 3 Conant homers to advance to the Class 4A Wheaton North regional semifinals. Greg Schultz and Trevor Bermingham each had 3 hits while Anthony Catanese had 2 hits. Anthony Milazzo was the winning pitcher.Willowbrook 6, East Aurora 0:Dan Johnson (6-3) pitched a 2-hitter with 11 strikeouts and a walk for the Warriors (19-12) in the Class 4A Willowbrook regional quarterfinals. Drew Kuenstler went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI. Dom Battaglia and Tom Van Kooten also had 2 hits. WW South 14, Proviso West 1:Winning pitcher Jeremy Rhoades went 2-for-2 with a homer and 3 RBI as the Tigers (19-13) advanced to the Class 4A Wheaton North regional semifinals. Matt Sturgeon went 3-for-3 and Dan Roadman drove in 3 runs in the five-inning victory.Bartlett 5, West Chicago 2:Matt Zajac had a hit and an RBI for the Wildcats (10-20), who fell in the Class 4A Schaumburg regional quarterfinals. Colton Reif went the distance on the mound. Metea Valley 11, Oswego 7:Mike Fitzgerald went 4-for-4 with 2 doubles, 2 homers, 4 runs scored and 7 RBI for the Mustangs (14-15), who won in their playoff debut to advance to the Class 4A Benet regional semifinals. Stephen Rueda added 3 hits while winning pitcher Billy Sheeren drove in 2 runs. Waubonsie Valley 11, Romeoville 3:Kyle Limanowski launched his 10th homer of the season for the Warriors (20-12), who won in the Class 4A Lockport regional quarterfinals. Harry Vickers also homered. Winning pitcher Mike Murphy (4-4) went 2-for-4.Benet 15, Joliet Central 4:The Redwings (15-18) followed a 9-run second inning with a 6-run third and cruised into the Class 4A Benet regional semifinals. R.J. Gatto homered and drove in 5 runs and Chris Stout added 3 RBI. Sam Santa Maria, Zac Lewinski and Matt Dorsett each drove in 2 runs.Montini 15, Fenton 4:The Broncos (17-13) ended the game with 6 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning in the Class 3A Glenbard South regional quarterfinals. Jared Jayne, Kurt Gitchell and Mike Davis combined for 7 RBI. Anthony Reaber won on the mound. Glenbard South 14, Aurora Central 4:The Raiders (19-11) received 2 hits from Ben Gaspar, Ethan Gasbarro and Aaron Beese in their nonconference win. Billy Strohl pitched 4 innings and improved to 7-1.
