Tanner Giesel went 3-for-4 in the second game while Jason Avallone allowed 2 hits in 5 innings of relief to win Game 1. Kenny Obendorf and Ryan Solomon each drove in 2 runs for Metea Valley (13-15, 9-15) in the opener.Lake Park 11-11, Bartlett 9-5:Jake Pygman went 4-for-4 with 3 doubles, 3 RBI and 3 runs scored in the opening game of the Upstate Eight Valley sweep by the Lancers (22-13, 15-10). Game 2 winning pitcher Justin Castello went 2-for-2 with a homer while Zach Tsiodras went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI. Christian Taugner improved to 6-0 in the opener. WW South 6, Geneva 2:R.J. Hoshell went 2-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBI for the Tigers (18-13) in their nonconference win. Steve Lemm doubled and had 3 hits. Jason Schuman, Baylor Holmes and Nick Garlick combined on a 4-hitter with 9 strikeouts and a walk.Waubonsie Valley 10, St. Francis 2:A day after wrapping up the outright Upstate Eight Valley title, the Warriors (19-12) rolled to a nonconference victory. Kyle Limanowski hit his ninth home run of the season to break the program#146;s single-season record. Eric Josupait, Tyler Josupait, Ryan Vega, Connor Readnor and Mitch Stefani had 2 hits apiece.Naperville Central 12, Barrington 2:Ian Lewandowski improved to 8-2 on the mound and went 3-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBI at the plate for the Redhawks (20-12) in their nonconference victory. Nick Lopez, Derrick Avers and Brian Schiemann had 2 hits apiece. Glenbard North 9, Downers North 2:Evin Natick, Jake Kline and Sean Fogarty all homered for the Panthers (21-10) and Ryan Gallagher drove in 3 runs in the nonconference matchup. Andrew Bergmann (8-2) pitched 5 shutout innings of 2-hit ball with 6 strikeouts and no walks. Willowbrook 5, Lincoln-Way Central 4:Trailing 4-2 heading to the bottom of the seventh inning, the Warriors (18-12) scored twice to tie it and tallied the game-winning run in the eighth. Drew Kuenstler, who drove in 2 runs, Tyler Adams and Dan Fahlgren each had 2 hits while Fred Dobry went 3-for-4. Three innings of scoreless relief earned the victory for Alex Tiberi. Addison Trail 10-8, Fenton 4-6:Scott Babica and Anthony Catanese each went 3-for-4 with a home run in the opener, and the Blazers (15-17) notched the nonconference sweep by scoring twice in the bottom of the sixth in Game 2. Greg Schultz and winning pitcher Mike Imperiale homered in the second game.Walther Lutheran 6, Immaculate Conception 5:The Knights (9-19) fell in the Class 2A Immaculate Conception regional final after top-seeded Walther Lutheran scored in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Knights fell behind 5-1 but rallied to send the game to extra innings. Charlie Pulkownik, who drove in 3 runs, and Brian Harvey each went 3-for-5.
