ICHS awards 2011 Wisbrock Scholar

Immaculate Conception High School in Elmhurst announced that sophomore Debra Barnish is the 2011 recipient of the Wisbrock Service Award Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded annually to a female sophomore at ICHS in recognition of exemplary service to the school, parish and community.

Debra currently serves as an altar server for the Sacred Heart Parish in Melrose Park, and volunteers at various parish fundraisers. In addition, she is an Animal Care League volunteer and has lent her services to assist cancer patients, U.S. veterans and the elderly. Debra is also a volunteer gymnastics coach in her community. At ICHS, Debra serves as a Knight Ambassador, is a member of the Italian club and is a feature writer for the school newspaper.

The Wisbrock Scholarship was set up in honor of Phyllis Wisbrock, who was a lifetime member of the Immaculate Conception parish and was part of the very first class to graduate from the new Immaculate Conception High School in 1953.
