Kane County Clerk's mobile office returns to Elgin April 12

The Kane County Clerk's Office has announced the mobile clerk's office, an initiative to bring its services into communities throughout the county, will return to Elgin in April.

The mobile clerk's office will be at the Elgin Township Supervisor's Office, 729 S. McLean Blvd., Elgin from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 12. It will be closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m.

The clerk's office has partnered with local governments in Kane County to host the Mobile Clerk's Office so that residents can request copies of birth, death, marriage and civil union certificates and register to vote without coming to the main office in Geneva.

"The mobile clerk's office gives us another way to serve the people of Kane County," Kane County Clerk Jack Cunningham said. "I appreciate the support of our local government partners, including Elgin Township, for allowing us to bring our office directly to the residents in the Elgin area."

The mobile clerk's office is part of the Accessibility Program, which has increased accessibility of resources to Kane County residents through the expansion of services to residents outside of the normal weekday business hours at the Geneva office.

The Saturday passport events are another initiative of the CAP. The next Saturday passport event at the clerk's office, 719 S. Batavia Ave., Geneva, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 14. More than 100 residents interested in applying for passports were served at each of the February and March passport events.

Cunningham added, "The Clerk's Accessibility Program has helped to expand services and resources to give residents even more for their money. We look forward to finding even more ways of bringing services to the residents."

The Kane County Clerk's Office is responsible for several major functions, including acting as custodian of county records, registrar of vital records, chief election official, as well as extending taxes. The clerk's office provides information and resources to residents through the clerk's website, www.kanecountyclerk.org. Follow twitter.com/KaneCoILClerk.
