CASA Kane County launches “Real People. Real Lives.” campaign

"Real People. Real Lives." Everyday heroes are making a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children through CASA Kane County.

These difference makers include volunteers, board members, and members of the Chairman's Advisory Panel, as well as contributors such bankers, lawyers, teachers, moms, dads and small business owners.

They are caring, committed and community-minded people who have found their place to fulfill the mission of CASA.

CASA Kane County is a nonprofit, volunteer organization that advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children within the juvenile court system. CASA/GAL is a court-appointed special advocate and guardian ad litem program ensuring all children are given the opportunities to thrive in a healthy home and that their basic needs are in the forefront of the judge who is making life-changing decisions.

As Roly Orama, CASA board of directors member, states, "I know from my personality that I could not be a CASA volunteer so I've looked for other ways to be involved with the organization; through donations, through their gala, golf outings and community awareness events."

Another community member featured in the campaign, Robert Runke, shares in the video, "I'm nobody special but I can do special things … I am You." Robert owns Barco Products and is a CASA/GAL volunteer, donor and friend of the organization.

The campaign is focused on creating awareness of the important child advocacy work that CASA Kane County does every day. We now want to share with our community how you too can find your place and make a difference no matter what age or where you are in life.

Last year, 610 children were victims of abuse or neglect, were removed from their homes and entered the child welfare system and received advocacy support from one of the 281 CASA/GAL volunteers. More than 40 percent of these children were under the age of 5.

Coinciding with the new campaign is a newly designed interactive website at www.casakanecounty.org. It is more user-friendly and picture-driven to showcase the important work of the CASA/GAL volunteers, staff and leadership who fight for the rights of children every day in your community.
