NORCOMM Offers Tuition Reimbursement for COD 911 Dispatcher Grads

NORCOMM Public Safety Communications is offering tuition reimbursement for new hires who have completed the Public Safety Telecommunicator certificate program at College of DuPage.

The 80-hour program combines classroom instruction with hands-on training in the advanced simulated 911 call center in the College's new Homeland Security Training Center on the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd. The 39,714 square-foot HTC is Phase II in the completion of the College's Homeland Security Training Institute.

"More dispatchers will be needed as the industry continues to grow. NORCOMM's commitment to our program is a testament to the strength of our curriculum in preparing individuals for this fast-paced field," said Tom Brady, Associate Dean for the Homeland Security Training Institute.

Students leave the program with exceptional hands-on training in the simulated dispatch center, which allows instructors to call up a variety of scenarios. After completing the 16-week course, students are certified through the International Association of Emergency Dispatchers (IAED), making them highly desirable in the job market, Brady said.

Founded in 1994, NORCOMM is Illinois' first private 911 call center serving police, fire and emergency medical dispatch for municipalities and fire protection districts.
