Popular Antioch Rotary Pork Chop Dinner/Auction Event Saturday

This Saturday, on October 4th, the Rotary Club of Antioch will hold its primary fund raising event - The Annual Pork Chop Dinner & Auction. The event is held in the Gymnasium at St. Peter School, located at 900 St. Peter Street. This popular event has become a tradition that is heavily attended by the local community.

The event starts at 5 PM with a wonderful pork chop dinner that receives raves from those who attend the event. As an initial skeptic, I was amazed at how delicious these pork chops really are. They are produced by a local caterer, and they are legendary in the Antioch Community area. Remarkably, many people purchase the event tickets just to get the pork chops, which they pick up as a carry-out! A broad range of liquid refreshments are also provided both during the dinner, and after, while the auction progresses.

The auction normally begins at 7 PM, and it lasts about 3 hours. Close to 200 items are normally available through both a silent and live auction process. They usually include a broad range of items, including tools, antiques, art, food and drink products, sporting goods, gift certificates to local establishments, weekend getaways and fantastic vacation packages to exotic places. The live auction is handled by professionals and is always quite entertaining. This is a great venue for an exciting Saturday evening, and possibly some really great values as well.

The proceeds from this event are used to support local high school student scholarships, and local charitable organizations. The Rotary Club of Antioch is also active internationally, and has funded water well projects in the Philippines, and more recently a vocational school project in Tanzania. The Rotary Interact Club which includes students in both the Antioch Community High School and the Lakes Community High School participates in the local and international service projects. This past summer, several Rotary Interact Club students and their faculty adviser traveled to Tanzania to assist with the preparatory work for the establishment of the new vocational school programs.

As 501 (C) (3) IRS registered charitable organizations, Rotary International and its member clubs are among the most efficient providers of local and international community support according to www.charitynavigator.com. Through its volunteers in 34,000 clubs located in over 200 countries, it delivers on average 96.5% of its contributions to those in need around the world.

Community participation in the annual Pork Chop Dinner & Auction makes this all possible, and the Club is pleased once again to have the opportunity to provide "Service Above Self," and fulfill the fundamental object of Rotary.

For tickets to the event, contact any Rotary Member; Gary Quedenfeld at (847) 226-1759 or Bob Deiss at (224) 601-4545. Tickets may also be purchased at the door on the night of the event.
