COD to Host Second Annual Manufacturing and Technology Career Expo Nov. 15

College of DuPage will host its second annual Manufacturing and Technology Career Expo from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, in the Technical Education Center, on the College’s main campus, 425 Fawell Blvd., in Glen Ellyn.

This free event will offer participants the opportunity to talk with employers and learn about the wide variety of careers in manufacturing and the education and skills required for such careers. In addition, attendees will view a state-of-the-art robotics demonstration and participate in on-site visits by representatives from cutting-edge manufacturing technology companies.

College of DuPage presents this expo in partnership with a number of area businesses and organizations including Arrow Gear, Choose DuPage, the DuPage Regional Office of Education, the DuPage Workforce Board, Glenbard Township High School District 87, Manpower Incorporated and workNet DuPage. Additional sponsors of this event include American Flange and Diamond Envelope Manufacturing Co., Communityworks Endowment Fund, Elkay Manufacturing, Smith and Richardson, Inc., Technology Center of DuPage of the DuPage Community Foundation and Tomenson Machine Works, Inc.

College of DuPage is part of a community college consortium mandated by Washington D.C. that was recently awarded a grant resulting in more than $500,000 in funds to upgrade facilities and address entrepreneurship interests and credit for prior learning in manufacturing.

The Manufacturing Technology program at College of DuPage provides training in a broad range of skill areas in product manufacturing and services and offers degrees in Automated Manufacturing Systems, Drafting and Design, Manufacturing Technology and Manufacturing Engineering Technology. Students can also earn certificates in additional disciplines such as Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing Skills Standards.
