Meadows takes second at Libertyville

Rolling Meadows advanced to the championship match in the boys volleyball tournament hosted by Libertyville on Saturday before falling to Lincoln-Way East 25-16, 25-12.

Prior to that, the Mustangs claimed two-set wins over Lake Forest (in the semifinals) and Libertyville, Oak Park-River Forest and Prospect (in three sets) in pool play.

Tom Srnak amassed a team-best 27 kills for the day, Matt Kuzniar had 8 blocks, and Peter Nickle had 62 digs. Brett Frey ran the offense and was 172-for-179 setting with 106 assists for the Mustangs (15-4).

At Hersey: The host Huskies, St. Viator and Lincoln-Way West each finished 4-1 in tournament play; Lincoln-Way West won the tiebreaker by finishing 8-2 in sets and was awarded the tournament triumph. St. Viator was 9-4 in sets, and Hersey was 8-4.
