Rays sting as Lakes stops Wauconda

Trevor Ray scored 3 goals, and his brother Kevin Ray made 6 saves, as Lakes’ boys soccer team shut out visiting Wauconda 6-0 its North Suburban Prairie Division opener and improve to 6-1 overall Tuesday.

Joey Savino started the scoring less than five minutes into the match and later assisted on Trevor Ray’s second goal of the half. Tom Czyberski’s tally had the Eagles up 4-0 at intermission.

Caleb Arnwine added a goal and an assist, while Rich Galat, Lucas Istvanek, Alex Langbein and Mark Gerrits also had assists.

Mundelein 3, Lake Forest 1: Alejandro Terrazos scored twice to stake the Mustangs to a 3-1 halftime lead in the North Suburban Lake contest.

Mason Homsey tallied the other goal for Mundelein (5-3-2), while Alex Nambo and Lino Garcia had assists. Mustangs keeper Carlos Valente turned away 4 shots.

Crystal Lake South 3, Grayslake Central 0: Sam Murdock scored on a penalty kick and added an assist for the Gators in the Fox Valley crossover.

Rams keeper Steven Anderson made 8 saves.

Stevenson 4, Zion-Benton 0: Toshiki Niimi, Max Klaber, Jared Moelart and Jimmy Wang scored as the Patriots improved to 6-1 and 2-0 in the North Suburban Lake. Alex Drexler, Joe Hugener and Klaber all had assists.

Patriots keeper Quintin Low made 3 saves, and Chris Boutros added 1 save.

Jacobs 3, Grayslake North 1: Baruk Perez-Vera scored the Knights’ lone goal, assisted by Fernando Sanchez. Dean Jones grabbed 7 shots for Grayslake North.

North Chicago 2, Grant 1: Andres Velarde scored the Bulldogs’ lone goal on an assist from Marco Delgado in their North Suburban Prairie opener.

Round Lake 4, Vernon Hills 0: The Panthers broke open a tight game by scoring three goals after halftime.

Vernon Hills fell to 5-2-1.
