Rain forces reschedules of Fox Valley tournament games

Thursday’s rain set back Class 3A and 4A baseball and sectional semifinals for five Fox Valley teams.

In baseball, the Class 4A McHenry sectional semifinal between Crystal Lake South and Grant was postponed until 4:30 p.m. Friday, with the winner still slated to face South Elgin at 11 a.m. Saturday for the championship.

In Class 3A baseball, due to Burlington Central’s graduation ceremony Friday night, the Rockets’ Sycamore sectional semifinal against Prairie Ridge will be played at either 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. Saturday. A day and time for the championship game, where Freeport awaits, will be announced Friday morning.

The Class 4A Cary-Grove softball sectional semifinal Thursday between Jacobs and Hononegah was also postponed to 4:30 p.m. Friday. The winner will meet Carmel at 11 a.m. Saturday for the championship. Likewise, Bartlett’s Lake Park sectional semifinal game against West Chicago will now be played at 4:30 p.m. Friday, with that winner meeting Glenbard North at 11 a.m. Saturday for the title.

In Class 3A softball, the Belvidere North sectional semifinal between Burlington Central and Marengo will be played at 11 a.m. Saturday, with the winner advancing to play Sterling at 4:30 p.m. Monday for the championship.

The Class 3A softball supersectional at NIU will now be played Tuesday at 5 p.m.
