Registration is open for College of DuPage's 2018 Food Truck Rally and Sunset 5K. The event, presented by DuPage Medical Group, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 2 to 8 p.m. on the college's Glen Ellyn campus, with a new VIP hour from 1 to 2 p.m.

Race registration is currently $25 for the Sunset 5K, which will begin at 4:30 p.m. on COD's Track and follow a USA Track and Field-certified course on campus.

The 100-Yard Youth Dash registration fee is $10, while the fee for 5K participants ages 5-12 and 60 and over is $15. All fee increases for the 5K will be announced via Facebook.

Registration is not required to participate in the Food Truck Rally. The event will feature more than 15 local food trucks and other activities for the entire family, including Touch-A-Truck and Kid Zone.

Proceeds will benefit scholarships for COD students. Each of the 15 high school districts served by COD has a dedicated fund for their graduates who choose to attend the college. Participants who register for the 5K or 100-Yard Youth Dash can designate their race fees to the high school district of their choice.

This is the third year that DuPage Medical Group is sponsoring COD's Food Truck Rally and Sunset 5K.

COD's community relations coordinator Ami Chambers is thankful to DMG for their continued commitment.

"This is a time of excitement for us as we embark on the eighth Food Truck Rally and Sunset 5K," she said.

The 100-Yard Youth Dash will begin at 3:30 p.m. and is for children ages 4 to 9, with three divisions being contested -- ages 4 to 5, 6 to 7 and 8 to 9. $25 Visa gift cards will be awarded to the fastest girls and boys in each age division.

Kid Zone will feature a Touch-A-Truck event, where emergency vehicles, grounds equipment and semi tractor-trailers will be on hand for children to experience up close. Kid Zone will also include games, pumpkin painting and a Parade of Trucks at 7 p.m.
