Sign up by Aug. 5 for Field of Dreams 5K Race

Field of Dreams Horse Rescue and Adoption is taking registration for the fourth annual Run 4 the Rescues 5K on Saturday, Aug. 24, in the Gunnar Anderson Forest Preserve in Geneva.

The certified, chip-timed race will begin at the forest preserve and follow the Fox River Trail for a scenic and flat out and back run.

Enjoy post-race snacks and bring the family along for a photo with a few of the rescue horses.

Entry fees are $40 for adults and virtual runners; and $15 for children 10 and under. Register at www.fodonline.org.

Race-day registration and packet pickup opens at 6:30 a.m.

The prerace packet pickup will be 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at Dick Pond Athletic, 303 N. Second St. in St. Charles.

Strollers and dogs are not permitted at this race.

All runners registered by Tuesday, Aug. 6, are guaranteed to receive a race shirt. Proceeds benefit the Field of Dreams rescue horses.

The day after the race, enjoy an Italian buffet dinner including appetizer, salad, pasta entree, chicken entree and dessert with "That's Amore!" at 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, at Villa Verone, 416 Hamilton St. in Geneva.

There will be magic and slight-of-hand entertainment by Jonathan Hamm

Proceeds directly benefit the rescues.

Field of Dreams Horse Rescue and Adoption is a Kane County based 501(c)3 nonprofit horse rescue organization whose mission is to help reduce the unwanted horse population in the United States.
