OCC donates $12,000 to Humanitarian Service Project to help needy seniors

Marking the start of its annual charity program, OCC donated $12,000 to Carol Stream based Humanitarian Service Project to help needy senior citizens in DuPage and Kane counties.

OCC selected the Humanitarian Service Project as its “Charity of the Year” and raised the funds through its Jeans Day program. The company will use a variety of employee activities such as raffles to raise additional funds to benefit the charity throughout the year.

OCC is the world's largest equity derivatives clearing organization and is dedicated to promoting stability and financial integrity in the marketplaces that it serves by focusing on sound risk management principles. For more information about OCC, visit www.theocc.com.

Karen Bilek of OCC said, “We chose the Humanitarian Service Project because it offered an opportunity to contribute to low-income senior citizens who are struggling to provide for their basic necessities on a very limited income. The HSP's Senior Citizen Project was a great match for our corporate philanthropy.”

The donation will be used to fund monthly deliveries of 90 lbs. of groceries including fresh fruits and vegetables, a variety of frozen meats, personal care items and paper products to each of the 120 senior citizens in the charity's Senior Citizens Project. The seniors also receive a monthly “Secret Pal” gift and Holiday Meal.

Karole Kettering, Executive Director of the HSP said, “We are so thrilled to have OCC as a partner in alleviating the hunger and stress that these needy seniors face on a daily basis. The generosity of OCC's associates serves as a great example to other companies and organizations.”
