March 30 screening set for COD professor's film

The College of DuPage Indie Film Group will sponsor a free screening of Motion Picture/TV Professor John Rangel's first feature-length film, “South Loop,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, in Room 153 of the McAninch Arts Center at the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

Rangel, of Berwyn, has completed a number of award-winning short films and was inspired to write “South Loop” after hearing stories from friends working in real estate when the housing bubble burst a few years ago.

Inspired by real-life experiences, the film explores the ups and downs of one man's life when the housing market bubble bursts. Rangel completed filming in just 15 days, crafting characters reflecting his vision of Chicago, as well as the actor ultimately cast in the lead role.
