College of DuPage Names 63 Presidential Scholars
College of DuPage has named 63 Presidential Scholars for fall 2012.
The recent high school graduates will receive full-tuition scholarships to College of DuPage for a maximum of 64 semester hours.
“These high-achieving students have an average GPA of 4.013 and an average ACT composite score of 28.07,” said Earl Dowling, Associate Vice President, Enrollment Management. “We received 236 applications representing all District 502 high schools, all of whom met the scholarship eligibility criteria.
“This is the largest pool of high-achieving, academically competitive applicants College of DuPage has ever received. We are indeed honored that so many talented individuals have chosen College of DuPage to begin their higher education journey.”

Scholars must pursue a degree or certificate at College of DuPage and enroll in a minimum of 15 hours per semester; maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA; complete a minimum of 15 Honors credit hours, including an Honors seminar and /or Humanities 2210, Leadership Development; and complete a designated Service Learning course or 20 hours of approved volunteer work during their first year at COD.
Dowling said more and more high-achieving high school seniors and their families are choosing College of DuPage for a variety of reasons.
“The transformation of the College of DuPage campus has resulted in state-of-the-art facilities that complement the high level of instruction taking place in our classrooms,” he said. “The soaring cost of tuition at four-year institutions and the unpredictable economy are important factors to consider. Each scholarship is worth more than $8,700, which is an incredible value considering the quality of education that these students will receive.”
