Author Serving Those Who Served in Lisle/Naperville

Lisle author, George Banas linked up with two Naperville organizations, American Legion Post 43 and Anderson's Bookshop to help veterans in need. Banas, an early Vietnam-era veteran is the author of the multi-genre novel "Terrorists and the Terchova Treasure - In My Brother's Place" which is dedicated to all civilian and military defenders of our nation from the colonial period to the present day.

Under his Buck-a-Book plan, Banas will donate $1.00 to Post 43 for each book sold by Anderson's Bookshop and other Chicago metropolitan book sellers to help veterans' programs sponsored by Post 43 and American Legion Headquarters in Indianapolis.

"The financial need is more acute now because the Legion is still helping veterans from WWII, Korea, and Vietnam while trying to raise additional funds to assist the new generation of veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan, " Banas stated. "There's no end to pain and suffering, so the need is always there. In addition to my offering the reading public an interesting and informative book, I'm providing readers an opportunity to contribute to the welfare of veterans who have sacrificed a great deal for our safety and freedom over the years. Hopefully, my 'Buck-a-Book' fund-raising initiative will cause readers to buy my book and know that they are helping veterans in the immediate community at the same time.

Kris Nugent, manager of Anderson's Bookshop helped Banas with promotional advice and marketing techniques since she learned about his fund-raising plan with Post 43. Nugent and other readers readily connected with Banas' account of the true adventures he and his wife shared while traveling between Tangier, Morocco and Madrid, Spain on 9/11/01. Those events provided the initial motivation for his book and Banas' activities to inform and encourage young and old Americans since then. "After reading only a few pages, I was hooked on the narrative, the characters, and the connections between historical and personal events Banas describes in his fast-action story," Nugent declared. She also noted that the book is suitable for both men and women with a number of both groups commenting favorably on Banas' first offering in his proposed Joe Legion trilogy.

"My book also is available through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kindle, and other independent and chain retailers," Banas added. "However, locally, Anderson's Bookshop has been a good friend to Post 43 Legionnaires long before I came into the picture."
