Oct. 7

• Students in grades one through five may join the Drama Club at the Bensenville Community Public Library, 200 S. Church Road. Sessions for grades one and two start at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7. Sessions for grades three through five start at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8. Participants will learn how to use their bodies, minds and voices to create characters, then act out stories in groups or individually. Registration is required. • Register by Oct. 7 for the Young Rembrandts Medieval Castle program at 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 14-Nov. 18, at the Butterfield Park District, 21W730 Butterfield Road, Lombard. Children ages 8 to 15 will complete several drawings, all based on a Medieval theme. The cost is $54 for residents and $59 for others, which includes all materials. • Glenbard West High School's Castle Preschool has openings for fall season with sessions starting at 8:40 a.m. or noon Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the school, 670 Crescent Blvd., Glen Ellyn. The program is for children ages 3-5 who are not in kindergarten. Students must be potty-trained. The fee is $150. Spring session is March 3-May 28. • "Crazy for Chapters" will be offered from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Addison Public Library, 4 Friendship Plaza. Children in grades three through five will begin reading "Dexter the Tough" by Margaret Peterson Haddix, make a craft and play games. • The Oak Brook Park District's fifth annual Magical Haunted Forest Tours will be offered from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, and Saturday, Oct. 11, at Central Park, 1450 Forest Gate Road. • Local author Glennette Tilley Turner will read from her newest children's book "An Apple for Harriet Tubman" at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Downers Grove Public Library, 1050 Curtiss St. Turner also will discuss how Tubman helped slaves escape via the Underground Railroad.
