Sign up for sports injury prevention program Feb. 8

Seasoned athletes, weekend warriors and fitness enthusiasts are invited to attend "Sports Injury Prevention," and learn firsthand how to reduce the risk of acute injuries (sprains, strains, fractures, and dislocations) and overuse injuries (tendinitis, stress fractures, swimmer's shoulder, runner's/jumper's knee, and shin splints). In addition, attendees will learn how single sports specialization, as a young athlete, can lead to overuse injury and burnout.

The program will also cover specific physical therapy prevention techniques and healthy lifestyle tips.

"Sports Injury Prevention" is presented by Fox Valley Orthopedic Sports Medicine Surgeon Dr. James Sostak. Board certified and fellowship trained, Dr. Sostak is currently the team doctor for the Kane County Cougars and Aurora Central Catholic Charges.

The program will be noon to 1:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Geneva Park District's Stephen Persinger Recreation Center. The program is free, but registration is necessary. For more information, visit www.genevaparks.org.
