Chamber Music on the Fox's season finale featuring ESO Maestro Andrew Grams on violin

On Monday, May 22, the Chamber Music on the Fox will present a program in which Andrew Grams, maestro of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, trades in his baton for a violin as he joins colleagues from the ESO and beyond for an intimate evening of chamber music.

The program will feature two classic works of the romantic era: Beethoven's String Quartet in F Major and Brahms' String Sextet in B-flat Major.

"'Making sound' with other musicians is something I don't do as a conductor," said Maestro Grams, "but as a fellow instrumentalist, I get to delight in the actual forging of notes and rhythms with my own violin to perform a piece of chamber music - literally music for a chamber, not a hall.

"These two pieces of music by the masters Beethoven and Brahms have all the brilliant attributes of the symphonies we have played at the ESO onstage at the Hemmens, and I'm positive that the audience will enjoy our enthusiasm for these nonsymphonic masterpieces," Grams said.

The performance will take place at 7:30 p.m. at Imago, 216 Prairie St. in Elgin. General admission is $20, student tickets are available for $10. Chamber Music on the Fox is also offering a pay-what-you-can option for artists.
