COD's radiography program receives maximum eight-year accreditation

The Diagnostic Medical Imaging – Radiography program at College of DuPage has received the maximum eight-year accreditation from the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology.

Gina Carrier, professor and Radiography program coordinator, said the self-study was submitted to JRCERT in May 2011, followed by a site visit in December. The delegation met with faculty, students and clinical instructors, and they visited two clinical sites to review equipment and speak with staff.

“They were especially impressed with our Library and gave special recognition to Debra Kakuk Smith, our librarian for Health Sciences,” Carrier said. “It's a major accomplishment to achieve the maximum accreditation. It's a reflection on the quality of the program, and our students are the ones who benefit the most.”

JRCERT is the only agency recognized by the United States Department of Education for the accreditation of traditional and distance delivery educational programs in radiography, radiation therapy, magnetic resonance and medical dosimetry.
