Help deliver food to hungry seniors
The Humanitarian Service Project's (HSP) goal is to serve needy senior citizens within the community. HSP of Carol Stream is calling for volunteers to deliver 90 lbs. of groceries once a month to needy seniors living throughout DuPage County.
The monthly donation, often referred to as "D-Day," requires the food to be delivered from HSP, 465 Randy Rd in Carol Stream, to the homes of impoverished seniors. HSP is asking volunteers to deliver these groceries one Saturday every month. Those who are interested in volunteering as drivers must include two references for HSP.
The groceries include selections of 7 fresh fruits and 8 vegetables, 7 frozen meats, 5 bags of non-perishable foods, 2 bags of paper products and personal care items.
HSP's commitment is not only to provide the 120 low-income seniors with the essential items they need, but to put an end to their hunger and malnutrition. If you or someone you may know is interested or has questions about becoming a driver please call or email HSP.

About The Humanitarian Service Project
HSP's mission is to alleviate the pain and suffering that poverty creates in seniors and children living in DuPage and Kane Counties, Illinois. Last year during the Christmas Offering, 1,600 children received gifts and 100 impoverished families received three weeks of groceries, frozen meats, and fresh produce. With the Senior Citizen Project, HSP provides monthly food deliveries of 90 pounds including fresh produce, frozen meats, non-perishables, paper products and secret pal gifts to 120 low-income seniors. The Children's Birthday Project reaches the youngest underprivileged, making birthdays and Christmas truly memorable occasions for 900 children. Feed the Kids provides 100 low-income families with groceries and fresh produce. HSP conducts an annual school supplies drive, which sends supplies to the DuPage Back to School Fair in addition to furnishing schools and individual children with necessary supplies.
