Wheaton North keeps lead atop DVC standings

The Wheaton North Falcons (19-8, 14-5) roared to a 12-1 triumph over Glenbard East on Monday.

That key victory puts the Falcons a game ahead of Glenbard North and Naperville Central atop the DuPage Valley Conference standings with two games to play against Glenbard East (11-6, 8-10).

Eric Scandora pitched a 3-hitter with 7 strikeouts and a walk. Jeff Schalk went 3-for-3 with 2 RBI while Reece Butler and Jake Schieber also drove in 2 runs.

Lake Park 4, Geneva 1:The Lake Park Lancers (19-11, 12-8 Upstate Eight Valley Conference) defeated Geneva 4-1 to remain a game back in the loss column with a three-game series beginning today against first-place Waubonsie Valley. Tom Spear, Dean Kise and Jake Pygman each had 2 hits. Kevin Steger pitched into the seventh inning to earn the win.Neuqua Valley 2, Metea Valley 0:Alan Foresta fired a 4-hitter with 7 strikeouts and 2 walks for the Wildcats (18-9, 10-9-1) in their Upstate Eight Valley Conference win. Tanner Giesel singled and drove in a run. Ryan Solomon went 2-for-3 for Metea Valley (13-13, 9-13).WW South 8, West Aurora 2:Winning pitcher Jeremy Rhoades (5-3) went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI as the Tigers (15-13, 11-8) rolled to victory in the DuPage Valley Conference. Matt Sturgeon and Dan Roadman had 2 hits apiece. West Chicago 5, Naperville North 4:The Wildcats (9-18, 4-14) scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out the DuPage Valley Conference victory. Sean Paler tripled and had 2 RBI. Dane Sauer, Alec Strachota and Hunter Serrato each had 2 hits. Mariano Long went 2-for-4 for Naperville North (9-17, 6-13).Glenbard West 7, St. Francis 6:The Hilltoppers (12-18) rallied from a 6-2 deficit by scoring a run in the fourth inning and 4 runs in the sixth. Ben Krusen, who drove in 2 runs, Myles Purdom and Ryan Kavanaugh each had 3 hits in the nonconference triumph.Lisle 10, Montini 8:Kazim Khan went 3-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI for the Lions (20-11) in the nonconference victory. Ryan Burlison also had 3 RBI while Will DeCraene, Brian Czyl, Ryan Van Volkenburg and Nick Thome had 2 hits apiece. Jared Jayne went 4-for-5 with a double and 3 RBI for Montini (14-12).Timothy Christian 14, Luther North 1:The Trojans (8-18) cruised to a five-inning win in the Class 2A Immaculate Conception regional quarterfinals. Fourth-seeded Timothy Christian will play No. 1 Walther Lutheran in Wednesday#146;s semifinals. Jon Penczak and Phil Stanton each drove in 3 runs while Matt Robinson went 3-for-3 with 3 runs scored. Winning pitcher Chris Ridolphi allowed 4 hits.
