Softball/Fox Valley roundup
Just call her Tarah the Bomb.
St. Edward senior Tarah McShane did it again Thursday, jacking a walk off home run to life the Green Wave’s softball team to a 3-2 win over Marian Central in a Suburban Christian Blue game at the Elgin Sports Complex.
“Thank God for Tarah,” said St. Edward coach Jaci Corn, whose team beat Marian 15-0 just two days prior to Thursday’s close win. “We did not play well today and we were lucky to come away with the win.”
The victory was St. Edward’s fifth straight and eighth in its last nine games. It was McShane’s sixth home run of the season and fourth game-winner.
McShane had 2 hits including a double for St. Edward (8-7, 6-2) and Julie Larson a double. Sarah Field (8-7) picked up the win, allowing just 3 hits, no earned runs and 2 walks while striking out eight.
