Fox wins race, but WW South takes team title

The Class 3A Naperville North girls cross country regional Saturday almost looked like a repeat of last week's DuPage Valley Conference results.

Naperville Central sophomore Amanda Fox won the race again, this time in 18:08.35 at DuPage River Park in Naperville. WW South won the team trophy with 36 points to advance to next week's sectional.

McKenna Kiple slipped past WW South teammate Lauren Mordini to place second behind Fox. Naperville North's Emily Smith and Jamie Schertz placed fourth and fifth, respectively.

Naperville North (43), Benet (87), Naperville Central (101) and Glenbard West (124) completed the top five to advance.

Although Wheaton North did not advance as a team, it did sweep the advancing individual slots. Karen Jensen, Ann Denz, Maggie Exner, Mary Rosenwinkel and Kelsey Tharnstrom each moved on.

Class 3A Bolingbrook regional: Neuqua Valley placed second with 46 points to advance to next week's sectional.

Lockport won the team title, with the Porters' Megan O'Brien winning individually in 18:33.16 at DuPage River Park in Naperville.

Caitlyn Summers led Neuqua Valley across the finish line, taking fifth in 19:33.65.

Class 3A West Aurora regional: Waubonsie Valley placed fourth with 108 points to advance as a team. Freshman Ashley Bruner placed 11th in 19:46 and classmate Kristina Chapman was 14th in 19:51 to lead the Warriors.

Geneva won the team title with just 15 points, sweeping the top five spots behind winner Kelly Whitley, who ran an 18:54.

Metea Valley West Chicago didn't advance as a team, but each had runners go on individually.

Metea freshmen Kathleen Adolf and Rachel Dorencz will run again next week, joining West Chicago's Annette Eichenberger, Kelsey Sayner and Tanya Starkey.

Class 3A Lake Park regional: York won the team title with 21 points behind individual winner Meghan Frigo and second-place Megan Fry.

Lake Park placed second with 73 points led by freshmen Kaylee Flanagan and Brianne Murphy. Glenbard East was fourth with 92 points and Willowbrook also qualified for the sectional with 118.

Glenbard East sophomore Maggie Angst took fourth in 18:49.
