Crystal Lake South runs mark to 10-0
The Crystal Lake South girls volleyball team remained undefeated for the season Thursday night with a 25-18. 25-11 Fox Valley Conference Valley Divison win over Dundee-Crown.
Caitlin Schumacher paced the Gators' offense with a team-high 7 kills while Chelsea Sirovatka added 16 assists. Brittany Atkinson recorded 4 aces from the service line for CLS (10-0, 2-0). The Chargers were led by Alyssa Sarrazine (5 kills), Lindsay Mosher (10 assists), and Tanna Svec (18 digs).
Burlington Central d. Harvard: The Rockets (10-5, 1-0) picked up their first Big Northern East conference victory beating Harvard 25-16, 26-24. Seniors Stephanie Holthus (10 kills, 4 aces) and Taylor Scully (5 kills, 3 aces) led the attack for Burlington Central while sophomore Kaitlyn O'Reilly chipped in with 16 assists.
South Elgin d. St. Edward: The Storm (2-7-1) battled the Green Wave to 3 games before eventually picking up their second victory of the season 25-14, 24-26, 25-22. Alyssa Krause and Amber Schnecke paced South Elgin's offense with 15 and 11 kills respectively. Courtney Sanocki recorded 36 assists while Laura Balance (11 digs) and Erica Williams (10 digs) led the Storm defensively.
Cary-Grove d. Jacobs: The Trojans (13-1, 2-0) cruised to a Fox Valley (Valley) victory, downing the Golden Eagles (3-8, 0-2) 25-13, 25-17. Kelly Lamberti (7 aces, 9 kills), Colleen Smith (11 digs) and Abbey Heredia (21 assists) all contributed in the Trojans' victory. Mattie Stearns led the Golden Eagles defensively with 14 digs.
Huntley d. McHenry: The Red Raiders (8-4, 1-1) picked up their first Fox Valley (Valley) victory defeating McHenry in 3 sets 25-18, 17-25, 25-17. Ashley Smith recorded a team high 8 kills while Amanda Carroll added 18 assists to lead Huntley's offense. Amy Dion paced the defense with 15 digs.
Christian Liberty d. Westminster Christian: The Warriors (8-6, 1-2) were defeated at home 25-19, 25-22 by Northeastern Conference foe Christian Liberty Academy. Sarah Rodgers (6 kills) and Hannah Graves (8 assists, 2 kills) led the Warriors' offense.
