COD hosts free IT Career Exploration event for high school students with disabilities March 15

The Disability Employment Initiative program at College of DuPage is hosting a free Information Technology career exploration session on Thursday, March 15, for high school students ages 16 to 21 who have an IEP or 504 plan.

The session will take place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Student Resource Center, Room 2000, on the College's Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

During this session, participants will learn about a range of career paths and interact with a variety of IT employers. In addition, participants will learn about professional networking and job search skills. Lunch will be provided during this event.

Registration is required by Wednesday, March 7, and is limited to the first 75 registrants, including students and staff. For more information, contact IT Career Coach Sherry Tietz at tietzs@cod.edu or (630) 942-2984.

Funded by a grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration, the DEI program is designed to help students with disabilities facilitate a career in the IT sector by providing them with access to college and community resources, extra guidance at the college level, as well as internships and job shadowing opportunities.
