Misty River Music Makers to hold open rehearsals

All women who like to sing are welcomed to participate in fall open rehearsals with the Misty River Music Makers, an award-winning, area women's a cappella chorus.

Open rehearsals will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays through November at Montessori Academy/North building, 595 River Road (Route 25) in Batavia.

The rehearsals are free and women of all ages and voice ranges are welcome. Participants will have an opportunity to learn several new songs in close, four-part harmony. The ability to read music is not required.

If you like to sing but haven't had much experience, they will help you find your voice. The beautiful harmonies, when shared, bind us together. We are proud to be part of this group … it's more like a family than just friends.

The chorus is now getting ready for fall performances and its upcoming Christmas show on Dec. 9 which will be held at Mooseheart's House of God.

Guest members will be invited to perform in the Christmas show if they wish to do so.

Maria Kolano, an 11-year chorus member, is Misty River's musical director. Membership is open to women, age 13 or older. Members hail from the Fox Valley and surrounding suburbs. The chorus is always interested in expanding its membership.

Misty River Music Makers is a local chapter of Harmony, Inc. international, a nonprofit and educational organization for women barbershop singers.
