Model train club to host open house May 21

The Sun City Model Train Club invites the community to its annual Spring Open House from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 21.

The G scale members (Garden Scale) are in the final stages of taking back their outdoor layout from the squirrels and chipmunks and making final repairs to their buildings and structures. N scale members continue to add buildings and scenery. O gauge is undergoing a major reconstruction project aimed at enhancing and expanding their layout and HO members have completed the new dispatcher's board. So make plans now to come down and spend a spring Sunday afternoon checking out the model trains.

If you can't make the May 21 open house, or you just can't get enough of the trains, the regular Sunday operations begin May 28, and continue throughout the summer. Operating hours are 1 to 4 p.m., but note that Sunday operations are dependent on weather conditions and availability of train crews.

The club posts a "Trains are Running" sign at the entrance to the baseball parking lot. And they also will post a notice on the Sun City website by noon Fridays. It will appear in the "Charter Club Happenings" section on the bottom of the Sun City home page, sccah.com.

All events will be held in the backyard and basement of the MiIlgrove Woodshop, 13400 Sun City Blvd. in Huntley.

Admission is free; children must be accompanied by adults. Guests may call (847) 669-2392 or log on to the Sun City website at sccah.com to get updates for upcoming events.
