Encore Theatre Productions to hold auditions for 'Putnam County Spelling Bee'
Encore Theatre Productions, Elgin's newest theater company, will hold auditions for its second production, "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee."
Auditions will be 7 to 10 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, May 15, 16 and 22 with callbacks on Tuesday, May 23.
Auditions will be held at the Kimball Street Theatre of Elgin Academy, 350 Park St., Elgin.
This musical was the winner of the both the Tony Award and Drama Desk award for Best Book. For over a decade, it has charmed audiences across the country with its effortless wit and humor.
Rehearsals, which begin July 24, will be held Mondays through Thursdays until tech week.
The production will run at the Kimball Street Theatre from Sept. 15-24. Actors will receive a stipend.
Those wishing to audition should prepare a short musical selection of no more than 16 bars of any musical theater selection not from this show.
There also will be some movement exercise so appropriate clothing should be worn.
An accompanist will be provided.
