Oct. 9: UPC Concert Series presents piano concert by Rose Craig Tyler; 'Bounce on In' Fall Fest set for Oct. 29

Rose Craig Tyler will give a piano concert featuring classical works by Debussy, Beethoven and Mozart at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9 as part of the United Protestant Church of Grayslake Concert Series.

Craig Tyler is a recent graduate of the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. At the U of I, she completed dual-degrees in instrumental music education and piano pedagogy while participating in several ensembles across campus including the Marching Illini as a drum major. In November 2015, she won the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Bob Hope Scholarship, given to a deserving band member from the parade each year. Craig Tyler studied piano with Professor Reid Alexander at the U of I.

Currently, she is student teaching at Matthews Middle School in Wauconda and Lake Zurich High School in the band departments and is director of youth fellowship at United Protestant Church. She graduated from Grant High School in Fox Lake in 2012. A freewill offering will be taken, and refreshments will be served after the concert.

The community is also invited to UPC's "Bounce on In" Fall Fest in conjunction with Grayslake Business Trick-or-Treating between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 on the front lawn of the church. There will be hot coffee for adults, freshly popped popcorn and lemonade for all and a moonwalk for the kids. Trick-or-treating will take place at downtown Grayslake businesses at the same time.

The United Protestant Church is affiliated with the United Church of Christ Fox Valley Association and the United Methodist Church Northern Illinois Conference. Worship services are held at 8:15 and 10:30 a.m. on Sundays, with Christian education for all ages at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays during the school year. The senior pastor is Rev. Gary Waters.
