Advocate Sherman Hospital named among best in Illinois by U.S. News & World Report

Advocate Sherman Hospital has been named among the top 20 hospitals in Chicago and Illinois, according to U.S. News & World Report's 2016-2017 Best Hospitals list. The rankings were released today.

Sherman Hospital ranked 11th in the Chicago metro area and 12th overall in Illinois, climbing from 16th and 19th in last year's rankings, respectively.

The hospital also ranked nationally as "high performing" in adult diabetes care and orthopedics as well as a variety of common procedures and conditions including heart bypass surgery, heart failure, abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, colon cancer surgery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, hip replacement, knee replacement and lung cancer surgery.

Sherman joins three of its sister hospitals in the Advocate Health Care system among the top 20 in Illinois - Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Advocate Lutheran General Hospital and Advocate Christ Medical Center.

The U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings, now in their 27th year, consider measures such as patient survival, the number of times a given procedure is performed, infection rates, adequacy of nurse staffing and more.
