Waubonsie Valley wins big against Elgin

Rachel Minarick had 17 assists and Becky Breuer 7 kills, and No. 4 Waubonsie Valley rolled past Elgin 25-4, 25-6 in Thursday's season-opening match. Mackenzie Bratland served 4 aces, Brooke Burling and Taylor Dunwell had 4 kills and Katie Campbell 4 kills and 5 aces for Waubonsie, who is at the Benet Invite this weekend.

St. Charles East d. Neuqua Valley:

Kaelan Hagg had 6 kills and Emily Krachenfels 8 assists and 3 digs for the host Wildcats, who lost their first match of the season 25-15, 25-23 to the No. 9 Saints (2-0). Jessica Mitchell added 8 digs, Lucy Kopchak 5 assists and 4 digs and Abby Skryd 2 kills, 2 blocks and 5 digs for Neuqua.

Glenbard South d. Addison Trail:

Kenzie Watterson had 11 kills and Tarah Valdez 10 kills and 12 digs for the Raiders (3-0) in a 26-24, 25-20 win. Alex LaPonte set 25 assists and Riley Mullins had 8 digs.

IC Catholic Prep d. Lisle:

The No. 20 Knights cruised in their season opener 25-14, 25-22 behind 8 kills and 8 digs from Delaney D'Amore. Rory Manion contributed 6 kills, 6 digs and 4 aces and Kimmy Martino 18 assists and 2 kills. For Lisle, also playing its first match, Summer Stitt had 4 kills, Robyn Griffin 2 blocks and 2 kills and Hannah Kiesling 13 assists.

Batavia d. West Chicago:

Heather Meyer had 6 kills and 3 aces, Shea Stanley 8 kills and 2 aces and Audrey Faulhaber 16 assists for the Bulldogs (2-0), beating West Chicago (0-2) 25-14, 25-10.
