Wheat Café, Culinary Market to Open in September for Fall Term

The student-run Wheat Café and Culinary Market at College of DuPage will open for fall term on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Wheat Café, which has received OpenTable's Diner's Choice Winner for Quality Service for three consecutive years, will be open on Wednesdays for dinner and on Thursdays and Fridays for lunch through Dec. 6. The Culinary Market sells items made by students and will be open from noon to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays through Dec. 5.

The four-course lunch at Wheat Café costs $15, and reservations can be made for 11:15, 11:30 or 11:45 a.m. The five-course dinner costs $22, and reservations can be made for 6:45, 7 or 7:15 p.m. New this fall will be two wine selections offered at $6 per glass to patrons 21 and older.

“Since it opened, Wheat Café has been a popular dining destination,” said Jim Mulyk, Assistant Professor of Culinary Arts. “Our clients enjoy both the creative menus and the attention they receive from our hospitality students.”

Located in the Culinary & Hospitality Center, Wheat Café is a 60-seat casual dining restaurant staffed by Culinary Arts and Hospitality/Restaurant Management students. Students use fresh regional and seasonal ingredients in their American cuisine, and menus change each month.

The menu at the Culinary Market, also located in the CHC next to Wheat Café, changes daily and is tied to the curriculum of several classes.
