Curry helps VH rally past Grant

Stephen Curry's strong senior season continued Saturday night.

Vernon Hills' four-year varsity guard scored all 9 of his points in the fourth quarter, helping the Cougars rally for a 47-41 win over visiting Grant in North Suburban Prairie Division action.

Vernon Hills sophomore guard Robby Nardini led all scorers with a season-high 16 points, which included a trio of 3-pointers. Nardini — who scored 12 points Friday against Wauconda — hit a pair of two-point shots in the fourth quarter, as the Cougars outscored the Bulldogs 22-13 to erase a deficit that was 28-25 after three quarters.

TJ Flis and Trenton Fulton added 7 points apiece for Vernon Hills (5-5, 2-1).

Rayvon Jones scored 12 points and Tom Blanchette added 11 for Grant (5-5, 1-3), which had won its last three.

Lakes 69, Cary-Grove 33: Jake Kohler and Justin Bergeron each had a double-double for the host Eagles, who led 35-13 at the half en route to improving to 8-3 with the nonconference win.

Kohler had 18 points and 11 rebounds, as eight Eagles scored. Bergeron added 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Highland Park 46, Lake Zurich 31: The visiting Bears dropped their second game in as many nights.

Lake Zurich (4-6) was up 11-3 early and 19-17 at halftime, but trailed 29-23 after three quarters. The Bears shot 2 of 19 from three-point range.

Brandon Krawitz had 16 points for Highland Park.

Ryan Roach led Lake Zurich with 11 points, and Brad Kruse had 7.

"We were like a completely different team from (Friday) night," said coach Billy Pitcher, whose Bears were competitive against Zion-Benton the previous night. "We have to do a better job on defense. They got a layup or wide-open 3 every possession, and we struggled to get good looks."
