Dee Beaubien, is she really running as an independent? She knocked on my door a few weeks ago and introduced herself. She seemed to be a pleasant lady so I listened to her. When she finished, I asked her, "Since you're running as an independent would you support an open primary?"
I feel support of an open primary would show her true allegiance as an open and independent representative.
She scowled at me, "Why do you want an open primary? I said I thought there were 17 states in the United States that had open primaries and I felt it was about time we here in Illinois should have the opportunity to vote for who we want no matter what party they may represent. I feel an open primary would bring more people out to vote in the primary.
I feel if Ms. Beaubien is an independent she should support all Illinois residents in being able to show their independence when it is time to vote.
I called her office the next morning to ask a question. I am still waiting for a return call. That was weeks ago. Hmmm, a representative that does not return phone calls.
