Nov. 8: CLC's veterans breakfast to include updates from U.S. Rep. Brad Schneider, veterans organizations

In honor of the upcoming Veterans Day, area military veterans, service members and their families interested in learning updates on veterans assistance programs are invited to attend the College of Lake County's veterans breakfast from 9-11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8 in Café Willow on CLC's Grayslake Campus.

The master of ceremonies and keynote speaker is U.S. Rep. Brad Schneider from the 10th District of Illinois. Other speakers include representatives from the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs and the Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County.

Joe Bochantin, CLC veteran student services coordinator, also will address the gathering. "The breakfast is an excellent opportunity to find out more about veterans assistance programs not only from CLC, but also at the local, state and federal levels," he said.

In January, CLC was named, for the 10th consecutive year, a Military Friendly® Gold School by Victory Media, a Pittsburgh-based publisher of G.I. Jobs magazine. The college offers comprehensive veteran services for students, including help applying for and using federal, Department of Defense and state benefits. In addition to Veteran Student Services, the Veterans Helping Veterans program at CLC is a team of fellow veterans who assist with the transition into the educational environment.
